Sustainable Solutions at J-C Press

Conserving resources, preventing pollution, and minimizing waste are not new
concepts for J-C Press. Just as we have a long history of quality and craftsmanship,
we also take pride in having a long history of following environmentally sound
practices. We believe that being “green” is part of our responsibility to our community
and valuable employees.

Committed to minimizing our impact on the environment, we have joined programs
that encourage and help printers be as environmentally responsible as possible. J-C
Press is a charter member of the “Great Printer Environmental Initiative.” Founded
by the Print Industry of Minnesota (PIM) over ten years ago, this initiative monitors
products and processes used in creating high quality print. With the help of PIM we
are recertified on an annual basis.

Another effort that has dramatically reduced our manufacturing waste is G7
certification. The G7 process eliminates waste during the make-ready and proofing
stages of the project. Strict color tolerances and practices allow us to match color
much quicker, resulting in less paper and ink waste, not to mention time.
Most recently, our FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and RAC (Rainforest Alliance Certified) certifications verify that we are following chain-of-custody
guidelines to ensure paper pulp is being harvested from well-managed forests. With
most paper manufacturers offering an FSC certified paper, it is becoming more
commonplace to have jobs produced bearing the FSC Certified logo. This logo shows
your customers that you are doing all you can to be environmentally conscious as
well.

Along with these certifications and programs that are monitored by outside vendors,
J-C Press has implemented several “Beyond Compliance” programs that include
numerous recycling initiatives as well as many spoilage reduction programs. In
addition, we keep a watchful eye for new equipment or processes that will allow us to
continually improve our “Sustainable Solutions.”
